Cuisinart HM-50 Power Mixer
I love this mixer! Great power! Great speed settings! I replaced a 3 speed Cuisinart so the additional 2 speeds gives me even better control. The mixer has the power to mix cookie dough and to add the extra ingredients, like chocolate chips and nuts. No need to stir them in by hand .Cuisinart makes an excellent product!

Not what I had expected
I had a Cuisinart hand mixer for 10 years and loved it. I thought this new one would be just like my old one. It's only problem, which is big, is that it has no low speed. Speed 1 beats so fast that everything flys out of the bowl.

Not like they used to be!
Though the mixer seems to do the job that it was purchased for(routine batter mixes for cakes & cookies), it had been quite some time since I needed to purchase a new hand mixer. I was surprised at the quality of materials used, all plastic body and the mixer blades themselves are thinner & much lighter weight than the ones I had been used to. I guess one shouldn't be complaining though, until I doscover a problem with it....just be aware that it may not last as long as an older mixer.

KitchenAid Pro 600,6 quart mixer
KitchenAid has a reputation of marketing the finest products available. Buying from Amazon direct was a charm. and I could not believe how fast it was delivered, with free shipping. Excellent Experience!

THEY HAVE FIXED THE PLASTIC GEAR COVER PROBLEM :)
It appears so many people were breaking the plastic gear covers inside that they have finally fixed the problem. Now they have "POT METAL" (JUNK METAL) aka very wimpy metal gears. So instead of breaking the plastic cover the gears themselves strip out, blow chunks and grind to pieces.

I speak from experience. Our third one just died. After the first two we knew we needed to be tender with the "little" mixer. All that did is made it so our warranty has expired and we get to pay for the third.

So why do I give them a star. 3 reasons.

1. Great features (unfortunately if you use them the machine will self destruct)

2. Somewhat good warranty. (at least they let us try again & again)

3. This is the real reason they get a star. Amazon does not allow 0-star reviews.

Legal disclaimer: I actually do not know if they fixed the plastic gear cover problem itself. I just know that all three of mine although used tenderly broke gears, stripped gears, blew chunks off gears, self destructed gears. I guess you get it. JUNK GEARS

The gears are to metal what baloney is to meat. They say it's all meat, but what kind or quality?

After further reading of reviews I found where you can buy replacement gears.

Look for a different mixer
We purchased the professional model thinking it would stand up over time. We only use it to make bread and pizza dough. It cant even handle 4 cups of flour. After moderate use the gears broke. This model should be recalled!

Excellent for a year, and then the beaters broke
I used this mixer successfully for over a year, perhaps two or three times a month. Last week, when I was mixing cookie batter, the metal "whisk" end of one of the beaters became dislodged. I tried to bend it back, but it only got worse, hitting and then breaking the other beater. There is only a one-year warranty on this appliance, so I need to buy new beaters (at least $15 at minimum) or see if a family friend can weld them back together. While I initially liked the design of the beaters, I can see now that the design lends itself to this problem. If the beaters were complete rings of metal, I think this would be much less likely to happen. I am very disappointed in this appliance for this reason.

Don't even consider it....WASTE of MONEY!
I bought this mixer in Oct 2007. I used it very infrequently, probably less than 1x/month - and on what was probably my 14th use, it would not start! As other reviewers have noted, there was no response other than a clicking sound when the power button was pressed.

Since multiple people (on multiple review sites) have had this identical problem, I contacted KitchenAid even though the 1 yr warranty was up, told them that clearly there was some kind of defect in design or manufacturing, and requested repair or replacement.

Of course, I got the stock answer of "we cannot provide support on a product after the warranty has expired" and they offered a "discount" (equivalent to Amazon's current price) so that I could buy the same crappy mixer! Regrettably, I had already given away my functional but plain Black & Decker hand mixer...that teaches me to buy style over substance!

I also bought, in the last year, a KitchenAid stand mixer. I recently got a solicitation from them to buy (at extra cost, of course) product insurance to extend their 1 yr. warranty. Given the rotten performance of the hand mixer, I might be compelled to shell out the extra $ just to avoid having a $400 piece of nonfunctional metal 6 months from now.

KitchenAid, get your act together and quit shilling these glossy but low quality products! Based on reviews of other KA products, it seems there has been a steady erosion of quality over the last 10 years, so BUYER BEWARE.

Died After 1 Year
Bought this mixer for my Mom and it died the same way as described by others. It won't turn on or do anything. It was a good mixer when it worked but for the price it should last longer than a year!

KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer, White

Product Description
This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solid in construction and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist; untwisting them is a bit trickier because the attachment stems are short and can be hard to grasp, especially if they get the least bit greasy. The bowl itself locks tight to the base.

Feature
  • 250-watt, 10-speed mixer with tilt-up head
  • 4-1/2-quart bowl holds dough for 2 loaves of bread
  • Three handy accessories: flat beater, wire whip, and dough hook
  • Includes a guide with instructions, mixing tips, and 67 recipes
  • Measures 13-8/9 by 8-2/3 by 14 inches; 1-year warranty

A piece of junk to avoid
After 18 months of occasional use the mixer died in a show of smoke and sparks. Kitchenaid says the warranty is 12 months, so "tough luck".

I love this machine
I really do love this machine. I talked my aunt into buying one for me for a wedding present. Needless to say, the mixer has lasted longer than my marriage. I haven't gotten any of the fancy attachments or extras. I just have the bowl, and the three basic attachments (paddle, whisk, and bread hook). Addmittedly, I think I've only used the bread hook a few times. I have a bread machine, so I just don't need to use it. However, the mixer has enabled me to make hundreds and hundreds of cookies every winter holiday season. I also use it to make mashed potatoes and massive amounts of zucchini bread (you know, from those monster zucchini that get away from you in the garden). As a matter of fact, my mixer has helped to make my reputation of being an above average baker. My mixer has never let me down. It is heavy enough to mix the really tough doughs and fast enough to whip up egg whites. My only complaint is that the little handles on the "lock" and "speed" switches fell off almost immediatly. Not a big deal, but slightly irritating.

Buy at own risk!
I received this mixer for a wedding gift almost 8 years ago. I used it very little in the first years, just cookies maybe once a month. From the day I opened it, it made a "weird" noise when in use but because it was so infrequent I often forgot about it until I used it again, finally realizing my warranty (VERY short at only a year!) was up. I decided to just use it until it died. It is still going but has been leaking oil/grease for sometime, today deciding to spew grease in my cheesecake. :( I went online to see why it was doing this only to find TONS of horrible reviews of similar situations and breaking mixers and horrible customer service. If it's after a year it isn't their problem it seems. I think when you pay hundreds of dollars for a product it should come with some sort of care. Unfortunately KA has fallen in the last few years, no longer is it the product we will pass on to our children and grandchildren. So sad. I won't be buying another one when this one dies for good. I will go with Cuisinart or Viking.

Awesome
The man that said it was poorly made I must say I strongly disagree. I have had mine for atleast 8 years or so and it seems you got a bad one. I guess we should all be allowed a mistake every once in a while and apparently Kitchenaid did. But I have to admit you're the first. I hope you are happy with your replacement and hope to see another review from you if you are now satisfied. I think Kitchenaid products are wonderful. I have a 2 door Kithchenaid Fridge w/freezer on bottom and it is huge and wonderful. I have lots of Kitchenaid products and will definately rate them in high standard. Sorry about your experience. Karen

Outstanding Value
KitchenAid KSM150PSOB Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer, Onyx Black

This product is absolutely timeless. I don't know how anyone manages cooking without one. There is no mixing task this machine can not handle. No kitchen should be without one of these.

Great Ship Time
I have not opened the mixer yet because it is for a Christmas gift but I received the gift promptly after purchase.
